Springwell is a primary school for children aged 4 – 11 years with complex learning difficulties. All our children have a severe level of learning difficulties and many have associated disabilities such as autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviour. Every child within the School has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
We pride ourselves on the quality of each individual pupils’ education and our work with families and carers. Working in partnership, we strive to achieve the very best for each child and offer support and guidance to families to enable consistency across home and school.
Our purpose built school has wonderful facilities and specialist teaching rooms including an art room, food technology room and ICT suite, as well as a modern hydrotherapy pool, soft play room and two multi-sensory interactive rooms.
We have recently moved into Phase 1 of a new build, built on the field adjacent to the main site. This building currently comprises of six classes for our upper school children, a soft play room, small hall and office space. Building work for Phase 2 will begin in 2018 and will contain a further eight classes, 2 halls and a range of teaching spaces.
As a Teaching School Springwell continues to develop educational practice to support children and their families with SEND, for example, training new teachers, running courses about SEND and taking part in research to enhance what we already provide.
