Behaviour Support Assistant - Grade 7
Overview
The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with children with complex needs within a school setting. Under direction, you will prepare and provide in-class behaviour support across the school, to be a Securicare Physical Intervention trainer where you will lead or support training for staff, coach teams in positive behaviour, to liaise with EP’s and outside agencies and proactively work with class teams to manage, understand, and plan for behaviours.
Key Accountabilities
• Establish supportive, caring and secure relationships with pupils, promoting respect, self-esteem and a positive, inclusive whole school ethos
• Develop knowledge and understanding of the specific academic, physical and emotional/behavioural needs of individuals and groups of pupils within the school and respond to them effectively
• Encourage and support good behaviour acting as a positive role model and to deal with behaviours that challenge in accordance with school policies and following appropriate training
• To work with pupils or groups of pupils supporting behaviours and regulation
• As directed by the leadership team, to liaise with outside agencies, parents and carers where appropriate, in respect of individual children
• Assist with general school duties. These may include:
➢ Supervision of pupils during playtimes and lunchtimes
➢ Supervision of pupils entering and leaving school premises
Specific:
1. Under the direction of the Deputy Head and Assistant Heads (AHTs) and prepare and provide in class behaviour support across the whole school -
2. To support behaviour reactively in liaison with the AHTs
3. Once in post and experienced, to be a Securicare Physical Intervention trainer and support training for staff
4. To proactively work with class teams to manage, understand and plan for behaviours
5. Coach teams in positive behaviour management strategies
6. To be a member of the Behaviour Team and attend Behaviour Team meetings
7. To attend class team meetings before and after school and therefore be able to be flexible with working hours, between agreed limits

Interview process:
If successfully shortlisted, you will complete an observation in class prior to a 2 panel, face to face interview.
